Raleigh Brewing Company to Begin Canning

Raleigh Brewing Company plans to join the growing number of Triangle breweries in the craft-to-can movement when they begin canning four of their year-round beers in April 2015. The brewery will be employing a mobile canning unit until they can finance their own rotary canning line in Q4 of 2015.

Raleigh Brewing will be canning their Hell Yes Ma’am Belgian Golden Strong,House of Clay Rye IPA, Moravian Rhapsody Czech Pilsener, and the much anticipated Hidden Pipe Coffee Porter. In light of canning the Coffee Porter, they will be discontinuing production of the normal, “un-coffeed” Porter, says Production Manager & Head Brewer John Federal. “Our Porter with coffee sells almost 5 times as much as the regular porter in our taproom so it makes economical and financial sense to offer it more widely. Plus you awesome people love it,” he says.

All cans will be available in 12-oz 6-packs with the exception of Hell Yes Ma’am, which will be available in packs of 4.  They also plan to offer a variety pack that will include 3 of each the aforementioned beers.

Two of Raleigh Brewing’s seasonal beers will be canned as well upon their respective release dates. The beers include First Squeeze Blood Orange Wheat Beer (Spring/Summer) and The Miller’s Toll Imperial Oatmeal Stout (Winter). These beers will not be included in the variety packs and will be offered in 6 packs and 4 packs, respectively.

Owner and CEO Kristie Nystedt says that “we are very excited to offer this next level of packaging to our customers.  We feel that canning is one of the best ways to retain quality for individual consumption and we look forward to seeing our cans out and about in the Raleigh area.”

Growlers will also be available of the Hidden Pipe Coffee Porter just in time for Christmas. You can stop by any area beer store or the taproom to pick up yours starting on December 29, 2014.
