From Mims & Leinenkugel’s:
Mims Distributing Company, a beer distributor servicing a nine-county area in and around the Triangle, has announced that it will partner in the second annual Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company’s Canoes for a Cause campaign on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at Lake Johnson in Wake County. Leinenkugel, Mims Distributing and North Carolina Big Sweep, a nonprofit dedicated to cleaning the state’s waterways, will host the volunteer litter cleanup event.
The Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company’s Canoes for a Cause campaign supports local efforts to clean up and preserve the region’s water quality. With beer being 92 percent water, breweries like Leinenkugel rely on local water sources, which is one of the driving forces behind the brewery’s initiative to maintain clean waterways. Other cities including Chicago, Denver, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Cleveland have hosted previous events. A volunteer appreciation party with Leinenkugel beers and raffle prizes will follow the cleanup effort with John Leinenkugel, Associate Marketing Manager for the brewery, as guest of honor.
This year, Canoes for a Cause will spread across North Carolina by hosting similar cleanups in Charlotte and Morehead City on the same day as the Lake Johnson event. For more information or to register for the event, visit http://www.ncbigsweep.org.
“We are excited to help Leinenkugel with such a great event again this year,” said Chip Mims, CEO of Mims Distributing Company. “We value our partnership with Leinenkugel because they share our same passion for giving back to the community. We’re honored to have John Leinenkugel join us for Saturday’s event and we encourage everyone to volunteer and get involved as we clean up Lake Johnson.”
