From Summit Brewing:
St. Paul, Minn. – September 16, 2014 – Thanks to a partnership between Summit Brewing Company and Twin Cities In Motion, finishers at next month’s Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and Medtronic TC 10 Mile will have more than a medal and a finisher shirt waiting for them at the finish line. Runners completing the races from downtown Minneapolis to the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul on October 5 will each receive a free 12-ounce can of Summit to drink in the finish area.
Summit Brewing Company and the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, Twin Cities traditions going back to the 1980s, have partnered since 2004, but will provide free beer to finishers for the first time on October 5, when more than 22,000 runners are registered to run the marathon and 10 mile.
“Summit has been a long time sponsor of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, so we’re excited to take that support to an even higher level this year by having our new cans be a finish line reward for the runners,” said Mark Stutrud, Summit Founder and President.
Marathon and 10 mile finishers will receive their free can of Summit beer at the end of the finish line walk-off on the State Capitol grounds after receiving their finisher medal, finisher shirt, post-race food and fluids, and after retrieving their sweats. Summit beer will be served in a secured beer garden just before runners exit the restricted finish area. Finishers must be 21-years-old or older to receive beer, which is only available with valid ID.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer a free beer to our finishers on race day,” Twin Cities In Motion Executive Director Virginia Brophy Achman said. “Our runners have requested finish line beer, so we’re thrilled to make it happen with our longstanding partner Summit.”
Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend kicks off on Friday, October 3 with the Health & Fitness Expo at RiverCentre in St. Paul. Activities continue on Saturday, October 4 with the TC 10K, presented by Sprint, the TC 5K Run/Walk, presented by Fredrikson & Byron, and the Medtronic TC Family Events, all held on the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul. The weekend culminates with the 16th running of the Medtronic TC 10 Mile and the 33rd annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon onSunday, October 5.
