From Chuckanut Brewery:
Chuckanut Brewery is one of the only traditional lager breweries in the Northwest and one that produces specialized lagers like the Chuckanut Baltic Porter! This beer originated in the countries bordering the Baltic Sea, taking inspiration from Russian Imperial Stouts and British Porters. For a limited time only, Chuckanut’s one year aged Baltic Porter will be on tap the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 29 exclusively at Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen at 601 W Holly St in Bellingham.
Chuckanut brewers are more than excited for the release of this beer because it has been aged one-year in the cooler! For some beer styles (similar to wine) excellence is achieved with time and the Baltic Porter is a prime example of just that. Fruity from the higher alcohol, full bodied, and a low hop bitterness adds to the complex tastes of the Baltic Porter. This beer is deep garnet in color and has hints of chocolate, port like flavors, coffee, and raisins and is mouth-filling. Due to its long lagering in cold fermentation this is also a great beer that’s easy to drink.
Winter is upon us and nothing goes better with cold weather than a meaty meal and porter beer. With its malt flavors, Baltic Porter, will latch onto similar flavors in roasted meats such as chicken and pork. Sausages of any type find the Baltic Porter a very good partner. Malt sweetness gives this beer a special ability to handle dishes with sweet elements. We invite you to our Kitchen where you can try it with our Thai Sweet Chili Chicken Salad or our delicious Yamburrito. You may be surprised how easy both the dish and the beer go down!
