From our pal Christine Celis:

Christine Celis, daughter of world-renowned Belgian brewer Pierre Celis, has been working around master brewers for most of her life. This Thursday, she will introduce craft beer fans to a product line of her very own.

Christine’s “Gypsy Series” brand will be a line of unique recipes created in collaboration with some of the most well respected brewers in the business. The first “Gypsy” in the new series is a Belgian IPA that has been brewed and bottled by Adelbert’s Brewery in Austin, Texas under a license from Christine Celis, LLC.

Ms. Celis explains, “Our first Gypsy recipe is a deep golden colored, Belgian IPA crafted from Belgian yeast. It features pronounced hops on the nose and distinct citrus notes. Adelbert’s founder and brewmaster, Scott Hovey, worked closely with my brewmaster, Kim Clarke, to produce a remarkable medium-bodied beer with noticeable Belgian malt character. We hope that craft beer fans will come out and give it a try at one of Adelbert’s upcoming tasting events.“

The launch party event at The Draught House this Thursday will be one of eight events where the public can meet the brewers and taste the beer from 6 to 9 pm each evening.

· Oct 17th: Draught House: 4112 Medical Pkwy, Austin, TX 78756

· Oct 18th: Flying Saucer: 815 W 47th St #100, Austin, TX 78705

Scott Hovey of Adelbert’s stated, “We have enjoyed working with Christine and Kim to create a beer that is true to our Belgian roots but embraces a strong hop flavor profile.“

UPDATE 15 Nov 2013:

Nov. 15, 2013 – AUSTIN – Adelbert’s Brewery and Christine Celis LLC are proud to announce the official bottle release of their collaboration, Gypsy Belgian IPA. The bottle-conditioned bottles will hit store shelves beginning the week of November 18.

Adelbert’s founder and brewmaster, Scott Hovey, noted, ““It was an exciting process to collaborate with Kim Clarke on this exclusive IPA.  We are extremely proud of the fruits of our labor and excited to share it with more people via bottles.”

Gypsy IPA was fermented for three weeks in the fermenter followed by four weeks of bottle conditioning before its release. This is the first batch of the collaboration ale going into bottles. Gypsy IPA bottles will be available at all retailers currently selling Adelbert’s Brewery ales. These stores include Spec’s, Whole Foods, Central Market, HEB and a wide array of local craft beer and liquor stores.

“Since there is so much competition of hop forward beers in the market, Christine Celis and I agreed we would not release a Belgian IPA if it wasn’t brewed to the high standards we set for ourselves,” added Hovey.  “The Gypsy Belgian IPA is as amazing in bottles as it is in draft. We are extremely pleased with final product and excited to offer this fantastically smooth IPA alongside our other Belgian-style ales we produce. “
