Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale Available Now

From Samuel Adams:

Pumpkin Ale is one of the oldest American beer styles. Early colonists lacked some of the classic brewing ingredients, so in place of malt, other fermentable ingredients like sweet potato, squash, and pumpkin were used for brewing. Back then, pumpkins were primarily used for their sugar content, rather than their flavor."

More recently, American craft brewers have used pumpkins and classic pumpkin pie spices in addition to malt to create flavorful pumpkin ales. The style has taken off and there are now many variations of this much loved fall variety.

Our
Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale is brewed with more than 17 lbs. of real pumpkin per barrel. The pumpkin works with the malts, including our two-row pale malts, Caramel 60, Special B, and a smoked malt, to create body and sweetness with a roasty and nutty character. Once in the kettle, we add classic pumpkin pie spices like clove, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, and nutmeg to enliven the brew and give it the spicy warmth of fall.
