BERTHOUD, Colo. -- City Star Brewing is teaming up with Harley, a tiny Chihuahua with a great big dream. Together they plan to help educate people while raising money for National Mill Dog Rescue so they can save more dogs.
"Before his rescue, Harley spent 10 years living in a small cage as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. He lost his eye because his cage was cleaned with a pressure washer. This, and much worse treatment is not uncommon, and we hope to help spread the word about the commercial dog breeding industry." says City Star owner, Whitney Taylor. She continued, "National Mill Dog Rescue is based in Colorado Springs and they have saved nearly 8000 dogs from puppy mills over the past 6 years. Many of our brewery customers are as passionate about dog rescue as we are, so we are hopeful this event will be a large success."
A special beer was brewed in Harley's name called Ol' One Eye Honey Wheat, and it's quickly become popular. T-shirts were designed with Harley's picture along with the phrase: Rescue your thirst for National Mill Dog Rescue! During the event on June 30th $1 from every beer sold will be donated to NMDR along with all proceeds from t-shirt sales.

City Star Brewing offers small batch American ales, hand crafted on a 3.5 barrel brew system in the heart of downtown Berthoud, Colorado. John Way and Whitney Taylor, owners of the brewing company, believe beer is best consumed fresh, directly from its source, and they've adopted a taproom-centric model encouraging this.
