Santee, CA (March 25, 2013/mbb/) – Manzanita Brewing has just rereleased a crowd pleaser: Jazz Man is back. One of the first specialty ales brewed by Manzanita back in 2011, this zesty pale ale was popular and gone too soon. Fortunately for Manz fans, the new brewery (big new B2) and its increased capacity means this succulent sippable ale flows once again, and this time there’s enough for everyone.
Jazz Man is true to its name, with 30 pounds of jasmine flowers added just before fermentation, with a dusting of grains of paradise leading the jasmine into the whirlpool. The jasmine and grains of paradise combine with Jazz Man’s Crystal hops to give an aromatic, floral character to the first sniff – and first sip – of this fine craft beer. Together, they bring a spirited, tangy flavor to Jazz Man pale that blooms with hints of lemon and citrus.
When starting the newest batch of Jazz Man, Brewmaster Garry Pittman and Head Brewer Matt Patterson had a few thoughts about how to improve upon the original, and worked hard to do so without upsetting the taste that made it a fan favorite. That’s not so easy when moving from a three-barrel brewhouse to the new brewery’s 30-barrel system.
Jazz Man Pale Ale is available in 22-ounce bombers, kegs, and on-tap in Manzanita Brewing’s Prospect Avenue tasting room.
