This afternoon you get the first look at the 2013 De Proef Brewmaster’s Collaboration Series beer. This one is co-brewed with Cigar City Brewing and it is called Tropical Tripel. This new beer is a Belgian ale aged on oak chips with coconut & peaches and it was created by Dirk Naudts of De Proef & Wayne Wambles of Cigar City. Tropical Tripel was brewed on Feb 18th at DeProef using Trappist yeast as well as Brux III Brettanomyces after an infusion of Mangum & Simcoe hops in the boil. To add t the fun, Belgian Candi Sugar and lactose were added and the beer is finished with toasted coconut, dried peaches and medium toasted oak. Look for Tropical Tripel to be packaged in 750ml bottles and come in at 9.5% ABV.
