Patrick Freer and Adam Szajda, homebrewers who operate under the name Snitz Creek Brewery, announced this week that they plan to open a brewpub at 7 N. Ninth St. later this year.
The building is now home to a Mexican-food restaurant.
Plans call for about 75 seats inside, and about 30 seats outside on a patio in the adjacent parking lot. The brewpub will be will be kid-friendly and will have an "urban-rustic theme," Freer said.
There will be 10 taps, and at least one will be for a non-alcoholic drink such as birch beer. Snitz Creek brews five year-round beers - an IPA, a wheat beer, a stout, a pale ale and a lager - and three seasonal beers.
The brewing system will include a 7-barrel brew kettle and 14-barrel fermenters. Once up and running, the brewpub's production capacity will be about 1,500 barrels a year (one barrel is equivalent to two kegs), Freer said.
