Not everyone knows, but Dogfish head also does spirits, and based on my sampling of their Jim…they’re very good! This from Dogfish Head:
On the heels of releasing the first 100% Delaware-sourced beer, we've gone and done it again, this time with spirits.
Delaware Native Spirit, fermented with blueberries from Fifer orchards in Camden, wildflower honey from Bee Natural in Smyrna and a yeast strain isolated in Kent County, will debut at this Sunday's sold-out Spirits Dinner at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach.
"We think this is the first craft-distilled spirit where 100 percent of the ingredients came from within the state where it's made," says Dogfish Head Founder and President Sam Calagione. "We're proud of this unique project."
After Sunday's dinner, a very limited number of this 80-proof, twice-distilled spirit will be available to-go at the pub for $40 per bottle. Cocktails will be sold for on-site enjoyment.
We're also releasing two other exciting new spirits, Fortress and Peche Brandy. Fortress, a derivative of the bold raspberry ale Fort, is made with a raft of raspberries and lots of love. Peche Brandy is fermented with the same peach juice we use in our summer seasonal beer, Festina Peche. Fortress and Peche Brandy, also 80 proof, will each cost $30 per bottle.
Supply is extremely tight on all three of these off-centered spirits, and you'll have to visit the pub to pick them up. For availability, call (302) 226-2739.
