From Baxter Brewing:
If you've visited the brewery's new Tap Room in the last month or so, you may have notice a few one-of-a-kind beers on tap. Now it's official: the Baxter Brewing Small Batch Series is a lineup of special, limited edition brews available for sale only on tap in our Tap Room, many of which have been concocted and brewed by our very own Baxter Brew Crew members.
From a light & fresh jasmine & juniper infused Belgian to a strong American spiced Barleywine, these small batch beers will be brewed ten gallons at a time, and will disappear when the kegs are kicked. Fortunately, they'll rotate through, and we have some great brews in the lineup. Stop in to the Tap Room today for your chance to try one!
Come on in to the Baxter Brewing Tap Room on Saturday, November 24th (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) from 12pm-6pm for an open house and winter celebration!
Baxter Brewing Company staff will be on hand to chat, answer questions, and enjoy a brew with you. And we'll have live music, Phantom Punch Winter Stout, new Small Batch Series beers on tap, and handmade soft pretzels from Pretzel Logic Gourmet. Plus, we'll have discounts on select merch in the store.
A portion of the proceeds from the day's draft beer sales will go to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society. Representatives from GAHS will be on hand to talk about the organization...and may even bring some furry friends along.
Good beer, good times, for a good cause. Don't miss it! And please, spread the word about this awesome event.
* Please use 70 Lincoln St., Lewiston if using GPS, and park in that parking lot. Walk up the stairs between the buildings to the brewery.
** IDs are required to purchase and consume beer, and will be checked.
Phantom Punch Winter Stout is hitting store shelves and bar taps around Maine this weekend (with Mass. following closely behind), and is blowing fans away with its knockout flavor. Here's a description:
In 1965 in Baxter's hometown of Lewiston, Maine, Muhammad Ali won the world heavyweight boxing title by knocking out Sonny Liston with a blow that some considered a "Phantom Punch."
To honor the fighters and our city's history, Baxter has named its winter stout in celebration of this event. Phantom Punch is a Foreign Extra Stout with a hearty 6.8% ABV; enough to warm up winter gatherings, but not too much to prevent sipping a few by the fire. Its deep black hue and rich tan head complement the full, but not overly heavy, body. Roasted and toasted malts dominate the flavor, with hints of caramel and strong notes of chocolate.
In keeping with Baxter's tradition of flavoring our seasonal beers with natural ingredients, roasted cocoa nibs reinforce the malty chocolate, while real vanilla beans suggest a touch of sweetness without weighing down the brew. Lastly, Phantom Punch has just enough British hops to balance the stout's maltiness, but this is Baxter's least hoppy beer to date.
