Here’s another great example of craft breweries giving back….this time it’s Anderson Valley Brewing:
August 23, 2012 – Boonville, Ca. – Anderson Valley Brewing Company dispenses proceeds from the 16th Annual Legendary Boonville Beer Festival through a non-profit entity, the Wee Boont Foundation. This year $96,000 was raised to help support local non-profits.
The Wee Boont Foundation continues the local tradition of raising much needed funding for our area non-profits. To date, the Anderson Valley community has benefited from proceeds exceeding $746,000.
Trey White, president and owner of Anderson Valley Brewing Company comments “ We are quite proud that the folks from the Anderson Valley community, our fellow craft breweries and the thousands of beer fans from across the West Coast and beyond continue to work together to share good times, great beers and provide funds for worthwhile community causes.”
Proceeds went to the Anderson Valley Animal Rescue, Parent Teachers Association, Elderhome, Senior Center, Education Foundation, Sports Boosters, Historical Society, AV Fire Department, Volunteer Firefighters Association, AV Ambulance, Kimmies, AV Lions Club, Navarro River Resource, AV Land trust, AV Health Center, AV Housing Authority, Emerald Earth Sanctuary, Mendocino County Fairgrounds and KZYX Public Radio. Many of our grateful recipients made note that their non-profit would not be in existence without the generosity of the Anderson Valley Brewing Company. We would also like to thank Great Western Malting, Brewers Supply Group, Canteen, Walmart and Safeway for their generous contributions to the festival and the designated drivers’ booth.
The Legendary Boonville Beer Festival began in 1997. The inaugural event was such a success that the following year AVBC decided to invite other breweries and charge admission to raise profits for their community. AVBC invites breweries and vendors from all over the west to showcase their wares in a pleasant, festive outdoor setting. The 16th Annual Legendary Boonville Beer Festival featured more than 70 breweries and record attendance with more than 5,000 supporters despite the overall economy.
Mark your calendars for next year – the 17th Annual Legendary Boonville Beer Festival will be held Saturday, May 4th, 2013!
