Draai Laag Brewing - Aureus & Simon Girty

image image
Here are two new labels out of a brewery that snuck up on me….coming to us from Pittsburgh, PA is Draai Laag Brewing Co (Pronounced Dry Log).  Opened in 2009, Draai Laag has been serving these two beers, I believe on draft only, so today we have the 12oz bottle Labels for Aureus (8% ABV) Triple Fermented Ale, Aged on Lees (brewed with orange peel & vanilla bean)…and Simon Girty (8% ABV) Ale aged on Lees (brewed with honey, cocoa & Orange Peel.)  For those asking Lees are expired yeast deposits & other particles from the bottom of secondary fermentation of beer.

  3. Ha!
My mom's house backs up onto Girty's Run, named after Simon (he was a renegade colonist who led the natives on raids against the English settlers near Pittsburgh). When I saw this on tap I had to try it. Pretty damn good.
