Sierra Nevada Yes–State College No

SierraNevadaI’ve been following the stories and rumors for a few weeks now and while I am happy to report that Sierra Nevada IS definitely looking east for a potential 30-50 acre site that they intend to invest $50-$100 million dollars into developing an east-coast brewing headquarters (employing close to 100 people.)  I can also confirm that Ken Grossman has visited sites including State College back in late March 2011.  At this point while I am hearing the Centre County/State College areas were popular for the quality of their water, they have been ruled out for what I’m hearing are financial reasons.  I really hope I’m wrong on this one and as cool as it would be to have three of the largest breweries in the country headquartered in PA, it looks like the PA sites under consideration are no longer in the running.  Now fasten your seatbelts as the rumors start about where they will land!  (PS “Official” word out of SN is that they are simply “exploring their options” and they may or may not build such a facility in the east.)
