Bart & Urby’s Homebrew Competition–Results

Last weekend, Mrs Beerbuzz and I joined Carl

Achhammer, Bar Manager Bart and Urby’s, and John Humphrey, Lion Brewery Quality Assurance to judge the Bart & Urby’s Homebrew competition.  We had 52 entries all judged on the following:  (Scores based on a possibility of 50 points, judged on Aroma 12, Appearance 3, Flavor 20, Mouth feel 5, Overall impression 10. Times by 4 judges and you have a total of 200 possible points.

The results are in and the winners are:

Best of Show- Pale #2-“Pennamite Pale Ale”- Chris Milz
1st- IPA #12- “Up the River IPA”-163 points- Chris Milz
2nd-Porter #2- “Porter”- 161.5 points -Joe Romanowski
3rd- Belgian #2- “Gueze”-158.5- Cliff Janacik
4th- IPA #1- “IPA”- 157- Gary Mikulski
5th- IPA #8- 147- Ryan Sutliff
6th- Belgian #1- 146- Cliff Janacik
7th- Special #3-“Peanut Pale Ale”-142- Dan Schreffle
8th- Flavor Wheat #1- 142- Cliff Janacik
9th-Hefeweisen #1- 140.5- Jeff Buckwash
10th place tie
