OAKLAND PARK, FL -- Perfection stands another year: After the final undefeated pro football team of the 2016 season lost this weekend, Funky Buddha is proud to announce the release of its annual salute greatness, Undefeated Saison.

For the third year now, Funky Buddha Brewery will release Undefeated Saison. The beer is a tribute to the 1972 Miami squad, still professional football’s only undefeated and unmatched team. It is packaged in Champagne-style 750ml bottles capped in silver foil, and will be sold on Tuesday, November 1st at 7pm at Funky Buddha Brewery only. Bottles cost $14 each with a limit of four per person.

Undefeated Saison is a beer that drinks like Champagne. A Saison - French for “season” - is a provincial style of beer that’s characterized by a light body, peppery flavor, and dry finish. Funky Buddha’s version is brewed with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape must, then conditioned in bottle to a high level of carbonation with Champagne yeast. The result is a bubbly brew fit for celebration -- as in toasting the still unmatched reign of our 1972 champs.

“There’s long been a South Florida urban legend that after the last undefeated pro football team loses each year, members of the 1972 ‘Fins all raise a glass of Champagne in unison,” says Ryan Sentz, co-owner and head brewer at Funky Buddha Brewery. “We made Undefeated Saison thinking how awesome it would be if, instead of Champagne, those teammates could toast their victory with this beer instead.”

Less than 3000 bottles of this unique brew have been produced, and they can only be purchased at Funky Buddha Brewery starting on November 1st. Undefeated Saison will also be available on draft starting at 5pm. Owners Ryan and KC Sentz, lifelong South Florida football fans, have pledged that any member of the 1972 undefeated team in attendance will receive a complimentary bottle.
