Here’s your first look at the 2015 “Remarkably Limited Release” of The Abyss.  This Imperial Stout is brewed with black strap molasses, licorice, cherry bark and vanilla before being aged in Rye Whiskey barrels for 12 months.  This is a 22oz bottle and the beer hits 11.5%-AbV.   We also have the Cognac Barrel Version below.   These are two of the three releases of The Abyss and here are the latest details from Deschutes:

The Abyss (x3)

When:            Regular Abyss Coming 12/17

What:  Reserve Series (22-ounce wax-dipped bottles and draft)

You can’t rush perfection, and that’s why the release of this year’s The Abyss trifecta is a bit later than usual. Our brewers made three – count them – three versions of our beloved imperial stout, The Abyss, to commemorate its 10th bottling. First up is the version fans across the country have come to know and love: a barrel-aged imperial stout of immeasurable depth and complexity with hints of molasses, licorice and vanilla. But wait, there’s more. This year, we’re doing a special bottling of two additional versions of The Abyss: one is 100% barrel aged in Rye Whiskey casks and the other 100% aged in Cognac barrels. These are extremely limited!

Where:                        Available in most states where Deschutes is sold
