Victoria Bitter Returns to 4.9% ABV

Some interesting ABV news coming from Victoria Bitter via the Sydney Morning Herald:

Victoria Bitter consumers are thrilled the brewer is bringing back the “full flavour, full strength beer at 4.9 per cent”, Victoria Bitter spokesman Craig McLean says.

“We have had an absolutely phenomenal response so far on Twitter, Facebook … our phones have been ringing off the hook,” Mr McLean said.

After reducing the alcohol content of the beer to 4.6 per cent in 2009 in order to decrease excise tax and keep the price affordable for consumers, Carlton & United Breweries have decided to revert to the original recipe.
