What day of new beers would be complete without a new brew from Mikkeller. We were the first to show of their Bravo single-hop beer, so I was excited to be able to bring you the first look at Challenger. This is another brew in the single-hop IPA series, and you guessed it, this brew uses ONLY Challenger hops. It’s an interesting concept designed to “give the consumer the possibility to smell and taste the unique characteristics of each variety.” In each version, Mikkel uses the same weight of hop for bittering, aroma, flavor and even in their dry-hopping. There will be a total of 18 different single-hop beers and all were brewed already during the same week using the same batches of malt, yeast and fermentation temps. This brew will be bottles in 11.2oz bottles and come in at 6.8% ABV and 51 IBU.
