Greg Garrity, Boulevard's Innovation Brewer, emphasizes the importance of supporting local businesses, stating, "Boulevard was once a small business, and people supported us along this 35-year journey. We owe the community that supported us. We owe them quality collaboration and innovative beers." This spirit of mutual support is what inspired the collaboration with Ruby Jean's Juicery.
The partnership began organically, with Greg and Chris Goode, Ruby Jean's passionate owner and founder, connecting at the Boulevard Beer Hall. “We just clicked,” Greg recalls. “Hearing how passionate Chris is about his family, his staff, his community, and Kansas City was inspiring. Their crew is truly special, and we couldn’t have asked for a better community partner.”
The Creation of Goode Vibes Squared
The idea for Goode Vibes Squared started with Greg’s admiration for Ruby Jean's popular juice, Goode Vibes Only. “I was drawn to its flavor, name, and vibrant color,” Greg explains. “I wanted that ‘fajita effect’—something so visually striking that it pulls people in the moment it’s poured.” The Ruby Jean’s team was fully on board, getting involved in both the brewing process and the artistic direction of the project.
Chris Goode describes the collaboration as a top-tier entrepreneurial moment. “Seeing the expertise of Greg and the Boulevard team was mind-boggling,” he says. “We’ve gotten a crash course in beer making, and the warmth of the team has been extremely appreciated as we navigate toward launch day.”
The brewing process for Goode Vibes Squared was as unique as the partnership itself. Greg and his team crafted a super juicy Double IPA, balancing hop character with the sweetness of fresh-pressed juice. They used Citra and Mosaic hops for their versatility, infusing the beer with fresh juice right before packaging to preserve the vibrant flavors. “People have made juicy beers before,” Greg notes, “but I don’t think they’ve made them quite like this. The juice percentage is insane, and you’ll know it when you taste it.”
The final product is a stunning brew with aromas of strawberries and pineapple, balanced by a slight hop tingle and earthy notes from the beets and ginger in the juice. It’s a beer that’s as visually captivating as it is delicious—a true fusion of beer and juice.
Bringing the Front Porch Vibes to Life
For Chris Goode, this collaboration is about more than just creating a delicious beer—it’s about reconnecting with community. “When customers look at the box and bottle labels, they'll see the essence of our brand and my grandmother’s porch combined,” Chris shares. “With this collaboration, the idea of coming back to the front porch landed squarely in my heart. It’s my hope that with this beer, we can elevate the idea of reconvening as neighbors, like we used to, on the front porch.”
