After a Year-Long Search Pennsylvania Crowns Its Best Homebrewer

[Press Release]:

PENNSYLVANIA – As of today… one of the largest states in the country for craft beer has named its best homebrewer. Breweries In PA went out on a year-long search to find the best homebrewer in the state of Pennsylvania. The first annual “Pennsylvania Homebrew Invitational” launched in March of 2022 and
was held through a series of events allowing homebrewers across the state to compete for the title of champion.    zzubreebym

The event was segmented into five different regions consisting of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Erie, Poconos, and Central PA. Local homebrewers submitted their beer for official judging and competed in beer fest style competitions. A panel of Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) judges would sample the beer submittals to determine who was best in the region.

The top three winners from each regional event were then invited to compete at the championship event which was held on Sunday, October 16th at Rusty Rail Brewing in Mifflinburg, PA to crown the overall winner. Adam Carter of Perfect Chemistry brewing would go on to win the honor of “Best Homebrewer In
Pennsylvania” with his Mixed Fermentation Sour style beer. Carter, who brews out of Doylestown, PA, has been homebrewing for 9 years. He would go on to win a custom-made championship belt and a $2,000 grand prize.

The first annual competition was met with great fanfare as more than 1,000 guests and homebrewers participated in the year long series of events. Chadd Balbi, co-founder of Breweries In PA had the following to say about the inaugural event: “This is an idea that has been several years in the making.
We are so proud of the homebrewing community in this state. When people think Pennsylvania made craft beer there are a lot of major brands that come to mind. But the homebrew community in the state is second to none and we wanted to give them a platform to showcase their skills.”

Balbi also confirms that the Pennsylvania Homebrew Championship will be back for a second year. “This event was met with more enthusiasm than we could have ever expected. We have already started planning 2023 and cannot wait to do this all over again.”
