CHICAGO, IL (SEPTEMBER 2021) - Not many people develop their own brand of ready to drink tequila seltzer based on a recipe served at family celebrations, but that’s exactly what self-proclaimed serial entrepreneurs, Paige and Ryne Iseminger did with Freshie™, the first (and only) organic, non-GMO, gluten free, sparkling tequila seltzer, sustainably farmed and distilled. Launched in Chicago and its surrounding markets in December 2020, Freshie is making waves in the explosive seltzer category throughout Chicago, (and the rest of Illinois), Atlanta (and the rest of Georgia) and Nashville, with national expansion plans for 2022. zzubreebym
Ryne was ahead of the times in 2016 when he created the first homemade Freshie seltzer from ingredients in his refrigerator while on vacation in Mexico. “After a week of too many sugary margaritas, I needed to cure Paige’s hangover with a light and refreshing ‘hair of the dog’ cocktail, and it was love at first sip,” reflects Ryne of his first homemade concoction made with limes, tequila, agave and sparkling water. Freshie became the drink of choice at every gathering of family and friends and the dynamic duo decided to make it into something bigger.
“The selzer category was just in its infancy with the introduction of White Claw and Truly, two big beverage brands, that are made with laboratory produces powdered flavors,” recalls Ryne. “We knew if we were on to something big with our 100% organic product and officially applied for trademark.”
With Paige’s strong family roots and history traveling to Mexico, they took a tour of a 103% solar powered, zero waste, 4th generation family owned all-organic site run distillery. “At the first visit Ryne stepped away and made everyone a Freshie,” explains Paige. “Our two families sat around the table sharing stories and our passion for goodness while enjoying the start of the Freshie empire.”
After spending over a year perfecting the formula, extensive testing reformulations and undergoing exhaustive USDA organic certification of both the drink and the distillery (oh, and all this during COVID and an 18 month shut down), the two families created the world’s first all-organic tequila seltzer! It became a partnership based on a shared passion for the same, real people, real tequila and real fresh, organic ingredients that started it all!
At just 99 calories and refreshing without being filling, Freshie is more than just a drink, it’s a lifestyle. “Ryne and I lead an active and healthy lifestyle and are passionate about offering consumers something they are proud to drink,” says Paige. “Freshie serves to keep the wellness conscious feeling good while imbibing in this refreshing alcoholic beverage.”
The world’s first all-organic tequila seltzer is made with premium Silver Tequila that takes seven years to mature before it is sustainably farmed and distilled using 100% solar energy, then lightly sweetened with 100% blue Weber agave nectar from the fields of the Jalisco Highlands in Mexico known for the most superior agave in the world. The result is a superior ready-to-go canned organic seltzer featuring citrus notes, sparkling water, lime, tequila and agave nectar distilled in a family-run, organic, sustainable and zero-waste distillery. That’s it!
Unlike other well-known seltzers on the market that use artificial sweeteners and synthetic flavoring powders, Freshie is made with only four 100% organic ingredients: Silver Tequila, real lime, agave nectar and sparkling water.
Freshies are currently found at over 500 locations including retail, restaurants and bars. Consumers can visit the Freshie Finder for the nearest availability. Available in 4-packs of 12 oz. cans, Freshie retails at $11.99.
