Original New York Seltzer Launches A Bodacious, Boozy Version of Classic Seltzer from the ‘80s

Four totally tubular flavors will hit shelves in Spring 2022

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Nov. 3, 2021) – Original New York Seltzer (ONYS) today announced it is going to put on its Hammer pants and jump in on the hard seltzer category with the upcoming release of Original New York Hard Seltzer, an alcoholic version of the brand’s OG seltzer.

Original New York Seltzer was founded in 1981 by father and son duo Alan and Randy Miller, who took a more natural approach compared to other soft drinks on the market at the time. Released in charming siphon-style glass bottles embellished with a New York City motif, ONYS dominated the market the way John Hughes’ movies rocked theaters; many industry experts credited the company as the brand that started the new age beverage category. By the ‘90s, ONYS ceased to exist but was brought back to life in 2015 after a relentless fan refused to give up on their dream of bringing back the brand. Now, ONYS is excited to put a helluva spin on the product —with booze, duh!

“As one of the first popular seltzer brands in the United States, we’re excited to invite other seltzer brands to ‘eat our shorts,’ and give drinkers everywhere a classic with a spin and a side of nostalgia,” said Ryan Marsh, president at Original New York Seltzer. “We revolutionized the soft drink industry in the ‘80s and are hoping to do the same with the hard seltzer industry today. Why drink a wannabe? Drink the Original.”

Available in four radical flavors—Black Cherry, Blueberry, Peach, and Raspberry—Original New York Hard Seltzer contains 5.5% ABV and is vegan and gluten-free. Packed with real fruit flavor and only 130 calories and 5g of sugar per can, it’s what sweet dreams are made of. Original New York Hard Seltzer pours clear and is moderately sweet, clean, and sessionable – totally bitchin’.  It pairs best with leg warmers, neon and headbands for those sweet, retro vibes.

Original New York Hard Seltzer is brewed by BrewDog USA. Like everything BrewDog brews, Original New York Hard Seltzer is carbon negative, and BrewDog removes twice the amount of CO2 as it takes to make it. Original New York Hard Seltzer will be available for purchase in 12-packs online at BrewDog.com/usa, and at select distributors and retailers across the country, starting Spring 2022.
