With 20 years of industry experience, Brook Simmons will support DuClaw’s continued growth as Vice President of Sales. Simmons previously worked as a sales manager for our Mid-Atlantic and Midwest territories.
Brook Simmons first became connected with DuClaw in his 20’s, enjoying the “Retribution” and “Colossus” brands. He started working in the brewing industry in the early 2000s at Winking Lizard Tavern in Columbus, Ohio; the grandfather of the Ohio craft beer bar scene. He later worked for The Wine Source, a regional leader in beer, wine and spirits in Baltimore, where he met DuClaw founder and president Dave Benfield at a pivotal point in the brewery's history. With sales slowing, Benfield tapped Simmons for his insight on how the brewery could change. Simmons’ offered strategic ideas to enhance flavor profiles, update branding and strengthen the business model overall. These suggestions were implemented and there was a positive shift in the company, leading Benfield a short time later to ask Simmons to consider working for him; and the rest is history.
Brook Simmons has been with DuClaw for 2.5 years and has a natural intuition for sales strategy. In terms of the future, Simmons is most excited about the barrel program expansion and pushing different flavor profiles and styles of beer, especially sours. He has been an integral part of helping DuClaw grow to where it is today.
