Modern Times Announces Latest Releases

Recent events at our company--and in the industry at large--render the regular special release fanfare tone-deaf and a little weird, but the reality is that after getting hit hard by the pandemic, we must sell beer in order to keep our lights on and employees paid. We are eternally grateful to everyone that has shown us support and continues to do so.
Amidst all of this, our brewing teams continue to outdo themselves, and this seriously killer lineup is certainly no exception: Forbidden Chants, Benevolent Demon, Economy of Scale: Pecan Pie Edition, and Ecuador La Josefina Coffee Beans
For the full scoop on these liquid wonders, feel free to keep scrolling. They'll appear on the
presale page at 10 AM on Saturday morning.

ECONOMY OF SCALE: PECAN PIE EDITION
This masterful convergence of styles began as a high-gravity doppelbock, which was then aged in a combination of 9 and 13 year old bourbon barrels. We kicked the decadence up about 20 notches by adding 100lbs of house-roasted pecan pieces, 14lbs of Mexican vanilla, 1lb of cinnamon sticks, and 20lbs of brown sugar, making for a wonderfully malty beverage that might be the key to the world’s best pie filling. Feel free to experiment and report back with your findings.
ABV: 13.7%
Format: 22oz Bottle
Price: $34.50
Total Quantity: 2,353

BENEVOLENT DEMON (COLLAB W/ GREAT NOTION)
We joined forces with our friends at Great Notion to tackle this behemoth; we knew it would be no easy feat combining the decadence of a pastry stout with all the drinkability of a porter. This singular beverage began with a few roasty and cocoa-forward malts, then was layered with gobsmacking quantities of vanilla beans, cocoa nibs, hazelnuts, and our house-roasted Black House coffee. If you often have trouble deciding between dessert or coffee, this will do the trick.
ABV: 8.5%
Format: Single 16oz Can
Price: $8
Total Quantity: 3,825

FORBIDDEN CHANTS
Our newest iteration of this relentlessly tropical series was built on a malt base of pilsner, white wheat, and flaked oats and subsequently stacked with banana, lime, coconut, orange, pineapple, and vanilla. Island vibes abound.
ABV: 6.8%
Format: 4-Pack of 16oz Cans
Price: $21.50
Total Quantity: 1,314

ECUADOR LA JOSEFINA COFFEE BEANS
We’re unbelievably psyched to be a part of the first-ever production year for this coffee from Leopoldo Andrade Barragan’s La Josefina Estate. This washed process Ecuadorian marvel is seriously one of a kind, with beautiful notes of black currant, fig, and vibrant lemon rind. It’s a stellar coffee, and an extremely positive indicator of things to come from this talented producer. All hail new beginnings!
