BOULDER, CO o. (May 5, 2021) — Boulder-based brewer, Upslope Brewing Company, announces its latest Limited Release brew—Mexican Style Dark Lager. The seasonal offering is the perfect partner for summer adventures launching just in time for Cinco de Mayo celebrations and sticking around through June.
The newest style to join Upslope’s Limited Release lineup was brewed as a tribute to the German-inspired lagers that are crafted in Mexico and hold a special place on life’s proverbial beach. Premium Vienna malt is accented by flaked maize, Tettnanger, and Contessa hops to create a malty, yet crisp and refreshing lager.
“This beer was born from the desire to make our own version of the amber-colored lagers that we’ve enjoyed down in Mexico and other tropical locales. The Vienna malt backbone lends an aromatic, honey graham cracker character that is given some levity by the flaked maize. We knew we wanted a bit more hop character than the archetypal Mexican dark lagers, so we went with a blend of more traditional Tettnanger hops and a newer American variety called Contessa,” said Upslope head brewer, Alex Meyer. “The result is a mildly spicy hop expression with floral and green tea notes. Our Mexican Style Dark Lager provides both malt complexity and a crisp, lean finish that is perfect for enjoyment in the sunshine.”
Available now, while supplies last through early summer, Upslope’s Mexican Style Dark Lager will be offered in 12-ounce cans at Upslope’s two Boulder tap rooms and across Upslope’s Rocky Mountain west distribution region.
