From Trillium:
4/9/21: BOSTON, MA - Trillium announced the opening of registration today for their annual 5K to raise funds and awareness for Family Reach, a national non-profit organization focused on removing financial barriers standing between a cancer patient and their treatment.
Now in its fifth year, the 5K is a favorite annual feature of Trillium’s philanthropic program and has grown a loyal following. In 2020 Trillium shifted to a virtual format in an effort to keep the fundraising event live during the pandemic, which enabled safe participation across the country. This year Trillium is keeping the Spring race virtual over the weekend of June 10-13, with a goal of donating $50,000 to Family Reach via a combination of registration proceeds and fundraising.
“I became involved in supporting Family Reach after my sister underwent prolonged treatment for cancer in 2016. While many organizations raise funds for important cancer research and treatment, few address the impactful financial burdens that affect patients and their families directly," remarked Esther Tetreault, founder and owner of Trillium. “When people receive a diagnosis, their lives are affected in profound ways - loss of income, medical bills, and increased costs of living. Providing basic necessities like food and housing can become a challenge. Family Reach helps bridge these gaps.”
The Trillium | Family Reach 5K is open to runners and walkers of all levels and can be completed any time, and anywhere, between June 10-13th. Upon completion of their 3.1 miles, participants can share their results via the official race page hosted by raceroster.com. In addition to supporting an important cause, participants will receive a commemorative race bib and decal, and special Trillium branded merchandise
including: running cap, pint glass, and sunglasses. Registration is $40 per person (early bird until April 18th) and $47 hereafter. Race materials will be shipped to participants via UPS prior to the race weekend in early June.
“We had over 1,000 people from 30 states run last summer and we hope to see even more this year,” noted Tetreault. “We are looking for our largest turnout yet and want you to be part of the fun!”
