Join us for First Taste Tuesday, March 9th! We are excited to re-release of one of our favorite cocktail inspired beers, Corpse Reviver #2! We brewed this beer inspired by our love of cocktails and with the goal of expanding the expectations of what beer can taste like! Corpse Reviver #2 is a citrus sour aged in Ransom Old Tom gin barrels along with fresh valencia oranges and meyer lemons, resulting in a refreshingly delicious, smooth, citrusy, cocktail-esque beer.
Some history on the Corpse Reviver family of cocktails: Sometimes drunk as alcoholic hangover “cures”, or have characteristics “known” to tongue in cheek be able to revive even a dead person. The Corpse Reviver #2 as described in the Savoy cocktail book is the most commonly drunk of the corpse revivers, and consists of equal parts gin, lemon juice, curaçao, millet and a dash of absinthe.
We are releasing this citrus sour on Tuesday, March 9th at both the Gigantic Brewery & Champagne Lounge (5224 SE 26th Ave) and Gigantic Robot Room (6935 NE Glisan St) locations on draft and in bottle, and via Gigantic Home Delivery - click here to have Corpse Reviver #2 delivered. Please look for it in the Portland metro area at your favorite craft beer bottle shop!
Artwork featured on the Corpse Reviver #2 bottle is by California based artist Brandon Ragnar Johnson. His aesthetic is born at the intersection of illustration and design and is often some combination of the things he most loves; film noir, fashion illustration, classic cartoons, the great men’s magazine artist, mid-century design and architecture, punk rock, monsters and old Las Vegas.
As always, Gigantic beer is packaged in BottleDrop Refillable bottles. BottleDrop Refillables are sorted, washed, inspected, and delivered back to Oregon’s craft beverage producers to be refilled. We began our quest in 2015, based on the original RIS Most Premium recipe. “Originally inspired by Russian’s favorite expression for great, Most Premium, once we barrel aged the beer, we knew we had to use proper Russian grammar, and name it Most Most Premium”, says Van.
For our 5th year release, we aged our belovedly complex Most Premium Russian Imperial Stout in 5 barrel varieties:
Bourbon : Enjoy notes of cocoa, coconut, caramel, umami & a delightful vanilla bourbon warmth We used a blend of barrels bourbon whiskey barrels
Rye : A delightful blend of chocolatey + cinnamon and peppery spice with a subtle woody character. The more pronounced booziness, this varietal was aged in American rye whiskey barrels.
Port: With distinct woody, dark red fruit notes, we aged this in real Portugese port barrels.
Scotch: A hint of smoke, delicate dry woody notes, strong malt backbone and a mild sweet spiciness, we aged this varietal in a blend of islay and highland whiskys barrels.
Rum: Notes of chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, and a very distinct fruit cake cheery notes resulting in the most fruity varietal of the bunch we aged this batch in Caribbean rum barrels.
Artwork featured on the Most Most Premium bottles (2015-present) is by Frank Kozik, American graphic artist best know for his posters for alternative rock bands such as: Nirvana, The White Stripes, Beastie Boys, Green Day, Neil Young, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Melvins and The Butthole Surfers.
