CORNING, NY – The folks behind the Craft Your Adventure Beverage Trail (which currently includes nearly three dozen craft breweries, distilleries and cideries in Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, and Yates counties) have created a new app to help you access the beverage trail easily and instantly.
Craft Your Adventure is a self-guided beverage trail celebrating the exceptional craftsmanship found in each glass and growler in the Southern Finger Lakes paired with the amazing outdoor recreation opportunities available throughout the region.
“The new app is like having your own personal guide to more,” says Dave DeGolyer, Communications Manager for Corning and the Southern Finger Lakes. “Most of us stick with what we already know. But the new app lets you find nearby stops and learn a little about them, like what sort of beverages they specialize in (I.e. browns or IPAs, bourbon or gin), is there outdoor seating, is food available and other offerings. It gives you a chance to expand on the places you already know.”
In addition to offering information on each of the beverage producers on the trail, the new Craft Your Adventure app provides several carefully-curated itineraries focused on tastemakers in proximity to each other, as well as special adventure pairing itineraries matching fun outdoor activities with nearby purveyors of deliciousness.
“Each tour is handpicked,” adds Craig Hills, Digital Marketing Manager for Corning and the Southern Finger Lakes, “to provide you with something that interests you or allows you to experience something completely new.” More “Tours” will be added throughout the year, as well as more adventure pairing itineraries, so the app will continue to evolve and grow offering users a variety of ideas and ways to plan their own exciting adventures.
Whether you’re simply looking for a great place to grab a brew nearby or you want to put together a full day of fun, the new “Craft Your Adventure” app puts information about outdoor recreation, tasting rooms, even ride share options all at your fingertips. Explore your own personal interests and create your own customized plan. Then use the “Map It” feature to organize the logistics of where you want to go and how you get there.
One feature that can be especially useful for locals is the ability to identify what’s nearby while you’re already out and about. You can search craft breweries, for example, or outdoor recreation based on location. So if you’re out in Hammondsport, you can find information on hiking trails like the Mitchellsville Gorge Trail or the Huckleberry Bog Trail or where to rent a kayak and get out on Keuka Lake, as well as info on nearby craft beverage producers like Keuka Brewing, Steuben Brewing and Krooked Tusker Distilling.
Each of the six distilleries, twenty-seven craft breweries, and two tasting rooms for one of the country’s best cideries are listed. That includes longtime favorites like the first micro-brewery in Steuben County to the newest openings on the trail at Laurentide and LyonSmith in Penn Yan.
Love moonshine? Create your own customized Bootlegger’s tour. You can pull up each of the distillery listings or use the map feature to see it all laid out in relation to where you are.
Also included on the app will be “Challenges,” which when completed make you eligible for certain prizes. There is currently only one Challenge. Click on “Adventurer 35 Objectives” and the listings appear as do details about the challenge.
A “Drinks” section offers information on the places where you can get a drink (I.e. tasting rooms). There are three ways to look up the information: alphabetically, randomly, or based on proximity to your location.
