Near the the top of the list of reasons why we’re looking forward to 2021 is this very list: our 2021 beer releases. The best part: all of these beers will be available across our entire distribution footprint.

This golden ale’s organic grain bill yields a balanced flavor that is both cultivated and refreshing. We can’t wait to share it with you!

Turmeric, or “kurkuma,” adds a hint of spice to this tropically crisp, saison-style ale. Brewing with the whole root lends all of the subtle aspects of fresh turmeric—its earthy notes and color—to Kurkuma’s dry and refreshing profile. Perfect for pairing with a robust curry like tikka masala, both while you’re preparing it and while you enjoy it.

ABV: 5.3%

Format: 4-packs of 16 oz. cans

COOLSHIP RED

A rare spontaneously fermented beer

This blend of spontaneously fermented beer is aged on local raspberries. We begin brewing Coolship Red with Pilsner malt, 40% raw wheat, and aged whole-leaf hops. The unfermented wort is then transferred to a large shallow pan called a coolship, which allows the hot wort to mingle with wild yeast and souring microbiota in the Maine air. After fermenting and aging in French oak wine barrels for over two years, we add raspberries and let it rest for an additional four to five months. The finished beer is bright red in color with an aroma of raspberry and oak. Its raspberry-forward flavor is balanced by notes of light funk, apricot, and a tart, dry finish.

ABV: 5.6%

Format: 375mL Bottles

Release Type: Seasonal

Launch Date: March 2021

Like a trusty friend, this one is back again. After all, a truepenny is, by definition, someone who is both trusty and honest. This Belgian-style Pilsner delivers on its promise of refreshment with a classic grain bill and noble hops. It distinguishes itself with a hint of wild beer, blended for balance. A beer that refreshes while it delights, a Truepenny.

CHERRY LIME TIMES

A new fruited sour session ale

Inspired by cherry-lime slushies and hazy summer evenings at the drive-in, we took a foudre-aged, session-strength sour ale and aged it on fresh, Maine-grown cherries for around four months. Just before it was ready, we added fresh lime zest for that extra citrus kick. We hope our Cherry Lime Times helps you create some of your own.

COOLSHIP CERISE

A banner year for Coolship beers

Coolship Cerise’s tart, dry profile is rounded out by notes of fresh-picked cherry, pie spice, oak, and a hint of apricot. To make this beer, we fill our coolship—a large, shallow pan-like brewing vessel—with unfermented wort that gathers wild yeast as it cools. The beer then ferments and develops its flavor in oak wine barrels for up to two years before we add 100 pounds, per barrel, of locally grown Montmorency and Balaton cherries. We hope you enjoy this balanced, crisp, and complex taste of Maine.

ABV: 6.7%

Format: 375mL Bottles

Release Type: Seasonal

Launch Date: August 2021

HAUNTED HOUSE

The fall favorite rises again

Ushering in the fall season is our scary-tasty hoppy dark ale, Haunted House. Doomed by a love of pitch-black porters and Allagash House Beer, we summoned the recipe for Haunted House and decided, again, to bring this fan favorite to our full distribution footprint. Roasted barley and Blackprinz malt curse this beer with a gravely dark hue. Hopped with Crystal, Nugget, Cascade, and Northern Brewer, this beer ends with a ghostly coffee note and hauntingly complex malty palate.

ABV: 6.66%

Format: 4-packs of 16 oz. cans

NOCTURNA

A first time for far-away Allagash fans

A favorite in our brewery’s tasting room, this will be the first time Nocturna reaches our full distribution footprint. In making Nocturna we age a silky stout in bourbon barrels with vanilla beans. In the darkness of the barrel a transformation occurs, the beer fills with a galaxy of roasty and sweet aromatics: toffee, chocolate, oak. Experience for yourself this momentous meeting of darkness and light.

ABV: 9.5%

STORIES TOLD

New blend of wild, tart beer

For the re-telling of cherished stories and the creation of new ones. Stories Told is half dark, strong sour ale aged in bourbon barrels, half flemish-style sour brown ale. We blend those two beers and age them on fresh, locally grown cherries and blackberries for a rich, roasty, and vibrantly fruit-forward beer. Gather round, this one is going to be good.

ABV: 8.0%

Format: 375mL Bottles

Release Type: Seasonal

Launch Date: September 2021

TRIPEL, CURIEUX, BARREL & BEAN

Brand-new branding for fan-favorite beers

In the interest of helping our fans discover new beers that they’ll love, we’ve redesigned our packaging for Tripel, Curieux, and Barrel & Bean to give them a more cohesive feel—since they all share the same base beer: Allagash Tripel! Allagash Tripel itself is an elegant, award-winning golden ale. We age that Tripel in bourbon barrels to make Curieux, and then cold- brewed coffee is added to Curieux to make Barrel & Bean.

Launch Date: January 2021
