Modern Times Announces Latest Releases

From Modern Times:

BRACE FOR TASTINESS!

Part 1 of November's special release presale goes LIVE on Saturday

It is November; a simple statement of fact that, while we're not sure how, means it's time for part 1 of this month's special release sale. We get it, there's A LOT going on right now (oh, you know, like the fate of our country being determined), but we'd argue that makes the timing of this lineup of drinkable stunners especially ideal. The astounding works of brew-wizardry include some serious hop-juggernauts, a barrel-aged sour spectacle, Dortmunder magic, plus a special treat perfect for the season: a stupendously delectable Baltic porter.

November Part 1 special release beers will magically appear on the PRESALE PAGE at 10AM Saturday morning if you want in—and don't forget, you'll need to also snag a RESERVATION (in a separate transaction, of course).

Friendly reminder: YOU CAN STILL TOTALLY TIP FURLOUGHED STAFF. While changing state-mandates in California have enabled us to recall some of our employee-owners, it's not everyone. The online tip item is still totally a thing, and 100% of the tips collected will be evenly split among our furloughed staff. We've been blown away by everyone's generosity thus far, and are supremely grateful for any and all contributions.
If you're still here, one can only assume you'd like to get all the juicy details on these beers (you can also get a more in-depth exploration of each one via our
blog, which will be up tomorrow):

*THESE ARE PRE-ORDERS. Please see info at the end of this email for pickup dates and reservation info. Pickup reservations for special release beers are still MANDATORY at all locations.
**Please be sure to read all of the important notes at the end of this email if you plan on purchasing. Seriously, it'll make your life way easier.

SPECTRALIA
Now boarding: The 10AM train to Funkytown. We started this dark sour with our Flanders-style red base beer, aged for 4 months in heavy toast American oak foeders, which we then blended with Batch 1500 (a super-tasty farmhouse ale) aged in red wine barrels for a whopping 40 months. That stupendous creation was then refermented on a ton (3.5lb/gal) of fresh Robada apricots from the agricultural whizzes at Sunny Cal Farms. It’s a glorious tapestry of tart complexity bursting with all the stone fruit-goodness you’d expect, but with a surprising depth acquired from its many months spent in oak. Prepare to pat yourself on the back for this purchase.

CHROMATIC ILLUSION (COLLAB W/ THREES BREWING)
The stunningly delicious progeny of a joint effort with the lovely folks at Threes Brewing, this Baltic porter sports a malt bill of Mecca Grade Metolius, Bohemian Pilsner, Mecca Grade Shaniko, chocolate malt, Midnight Wheat, and a pinch of oak Smoked malt. We then added some Hallertau Mittlefruh to the boil in three separate additions to give it a touch of bitterness and bit of spice. Ready your taste-receptors for a glorious ensemble cast of chocolate, hazelnut, and coffee notes with a light smokiness on the nose. It’s an absolutely delightful beverage that’s an ideal fit for the cooling weather.

DORT
This utterly lovely Dortmunder lager sports a crisp malt profile backed by a healthy charge of Spalter Select hops, yielding an absolutely delightful adult beverage with a full body and robust noble aroma that’s both complex and highly quaffable.

TIGER MILLIONAIRE TIPA
We stuffed this unbelievably tasty TIPA with ridiculous amounts of Citra hops, and then escalated the entire scenario with an extremely generous amount of Nelson. What resulted is a haze-beast of the highest caliber, with mouthwatering notes of citrus, tropical fruit, and white wine wrapped in a luxuriously smooth mouthfeel. It’s about to execute a flawless top-rope elbow drop on your helpless little taste-buds.

DOUBLE DRY-HOPPED UNDERWORLD DREAMS IPA
We took this beloved hazy IPA and dry-hopped the bejeezus out of it with Idaho 7, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Amarillo hops. The result is a face-melting explosion of pineapple, orange citrus, and berry flavors and aromas that’s just a straight-up joy to behold.
ABV: 6.2%

PREMIUM BLEND IPA (COLLAB W/ CLOUDBURST)
We got together with our friends at Cloudburst Brewing on a mission to create an IPA using the most unassailably-boss blend of premium pilsner malts. Once we had the perfect malt bill, we blended Juice yeast with Cloudburst’s house strain and hopped the whole shebang with mountains of Citra, Strata, Idaho 7, and Columbus. What resulted is a marvelously balanced IPA with a round body, bursting with notes of pineapple and resinous pine. Premium, indeed.

Important notes regarding this month's sale:

  • Although some tasting rooms are beginning to reopen, you still MUST make reservations for your special release beer pick-ups.
  • For the safety of all involved, you must wear a mask during pick-up. This is mandatory.
  • These items have a 30-day pickup window across the board ending on 12/13/20. Yep, everything. 30 days only.
  • The first day to pick-up will be 11/11 in San Diego / Los Angeles / Anaheim and 11/13 in Oakland / Portland / Encinitas/ Santa Barbara.
  • Reservations for the first two weeks of pick-up times will be available on the sale page. Again, be sure to check out separately with your reservation time, and do not add it to the cart with your beer. Thanks!
**SUPER-IMPORTANT NEW PICKUP RESERVATION INFO:
  • If you try to put your reservation time in the same cart with your special release beer, the site won't let you check out. You must check out separately with your reservation time. Just make sure to use the same email for both checkouts so we can look up your order and have your beer ready for you.
  • We've expanded our hours and added WAY more reservation times for this sale, so securing a time to pick up your beers should be far easier this time around.
***SUPER-IMPORTANT INFO ON WEB-STORE ERROR MESSAGES:
During high traffic times, the website will sometimes display the following message when you're trying to purchase a beer: “Sorry, this product’s stock has all been reserved. Please try again later.” This does not mean that the beer is sold out. It's a site error that results from high traffic and lots of requests for a particular beer occurring simultaneously. If you wait a while and keep trying, that beer may become available again. A beer is not actually sold out until there is a "sold out" banner displayed over its image in the store. It's a rare issue now that we've improved the checkout system, but we wanted you to know that going in.

THE PRESALE
WILL BE ON THIS PAGE.

(Beers will not appear until Saturday at 10AM. Don't forget to snag a RESERVATION, too.)

We thank you again—and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future—for your patience, support, and feedback during these immensely challenging months. We cannot possibly overstate how grateful we are to be surrounded by such a truly excellent community. Hang in there, friends.
