From Chuckanut:
Little known historic Polish Lager “Grodziskie” is a beer Chuckanut brewers fell in love with and decided to brew several years ago. It was a huge hit and has taken until now to have room in the tanks to make another batch. This very light, super effervescent low alcohol lager is sometimes called the champagne of Polish beer. The interesting part of this lager is the lightly smoky flavor due to oak smoked malt in the recipe. The gentle and flavorful smoke accents adds a depth to the light beer that makes a lasting impression. A moderate bitterness is evident and lingers throughout the dry finish to make this a very interesting brew.
Chuckanut Grodziskie is a great anytime beer with breakfast, lunch, dinner, or even at snack time! The ABV opens up the possibility of enjoying Grodziskie all day! Make sure to try this unusual lager when you see it on tap around the Northwest. It won’t last long and it may be a while before you see it again! Currently the Keller version is on tap at Chuckanut Brewery & Kitchen in Bellingham but the filtered, finished version will follow. Also available at South Nut in Skagit Valley and very limited accounts in the Seattle and Portland areas.

Chuckanut Kaffee Dunkel Lager Now Available
Chuckanut Brewery is excited about the release of a new Kaffee Dunkel Coffee Lager in collaboration with Tony’s Coffee in Bellingham. The classic Chuckanut Dunkel is a malty, deep mahogany Munich style award winning lager that’s balanced with smooth toffee & chocolate notes. In this Kaffee variation of Dunkel Chuckanut has partnered with friends at Tony’s coffee (Roast Magazine’s Coffee Roaster of the Year 2021) to create another layer of fruit forward slightly sweet coffee to its classic German dark lager.
This full-flavored Dunkel has been made in very limited supplies to be tapped and sold in bottles around Northwest Washington, Portland Oregon and at both Chuckanut locations. Kaffee Dunkel is a great afternoon and evening treat leaving you inspired and invigorated to continue your day and take you into the night with lots of energy! Its dry finish and lingering coffee notes awaken and inspire your next sip! Great with any BBQ, roasted meats and vegetables, it’s also delicious with a mushroom omelet at a late morning breakfast!
I’ve also added in Italian Style Pilsner (4.9%-AbV, 16.9oz bottles) & Skagit Tulip Ale (5.2%-AbV, 16.9oz bottles).

Chuckanut Brewery Releases Italian Pilsner
After being invited to take part in two Pils & Love Festivals north of Milan, Italy at Birrificio Italiano and drinking Italian style Pilsner Chuckanut Brewery has brewed its own Italian Style Pilsner. This is the second batch of this unique Pilsner Chuckanut has created. The first batch was made for Chuck’s Hop Shop in Seattle in 2019. Since that time Italian Style Pilsner has become an up and coming style of beer popular in the northwest.
The Chuckanut Brewery rendition uses pilsner malt to lay down a backbone that delivers graininess and a light malt sweetness. But the stars of this pilsner are the Nobel hops used for a clean bitterness and those dry-hopped for flavor and aroma. This is a German style pilsner on steroids! A highly drinkable lager with huge notes of spicy and herbal hops. Chuckanut Italian Style Pilsner goes great with oysters, seafood and really anything. It’s best just by itself, cheers!

Doppelbock 2021 Released by Chuckanut Brewery
Each year, around Valentine’s Day, Chuckanut Brewery releases Doppelbock (double Bock), a rich malty lager aged more than 9 weeks and usually up to 3 months. The long slow cold lagering creates a dark beer that is smooth and delicious. Notes of chocolate, toffee, dried stone fruits come together in this 7.4% ABV lager.
Chuckanut Doppelbock is an extra strong, dark brown beer that is aged at 29 degrees Fahrenheit for a full flavored, deceptively smooth finish. Watch out, it’s dangerously easy to drink and great with chili or German Sausages. It can hold up to braised & roasted meats and vegetables too. For a sweet treat pour Doppelbock over vanilla ice cream for a Doppelbock float! Enoy!

Chuckanut Brewery Taps Skagit Tulip Ale
This year Skagit Valley is celebrating tulips and its breweries once again. The Skagit Farm to Pint Fest celebrates the tulips and beer that are products of the valley. Funds raised from the fest are donated to Viva Farms, a non profit that teaches farming in the area. All Skagit breweries in the fest use Skagit grown grains that are malted at Skagit Valley Malts down the street from Chuckanut’s South Nut. This year’s Chuckanut Skagit Tulip Ale uses triticale grains that were grown and malted in Skagit Valley and made available on tap and in the bottle at both Chuckanut locations.
Skagit Tulip Ale is a delightful golden California Common that uses a blend of old world Noble hops and new world Galaxy hops with a mix of German and Skagit malts for a smooth malty center. The use of triticale (wheat/rye hybrid) malts from Skagit Valley Malting makes this an uncomplicated and hoppy beer with a dry finish. California Common Ale (AKA Steam Beer) is brewed with lager yeast but fermented at ale temperatures. Skagit Tulip Ale is a great accompaniment to seafood pasta dishes or with your favorite chowder. It also is the perfect beer just on its own! This year Skagit Tulip Ale is available in bottles as well as on tap. A special label has been created by local artist Evan Whitehead that invokes the beauty of the scenery in Skagit Valley to match the beauty of Chucknaut's beers. Cheers!
