From Verboten Brewing:
Loveland, CO (October 7) - Verboten Brewing is thrilled to announce the upcoming debut of Not a Speck of Light, a Bourbon Barrel-Aged Stout, which employed a six-hour boil, before aging for over a year in freshly dumped bourbon barrels from Colorado’s own Peach Street Distilling and The Axe & the Oak Distillery.
This big chewy 14% behemoth is a bolder, more nuanced take than any other barrel-aged stout that Verboten has ever released. With notes of molasses, vanilla, brown sugar, raisin, coconut, umami, and tobacco, Not a Speck of Light showcases a greater depth of body without much residual sweetness.
This new release joins Verboten’s already highly decorated stout and barrel-aged beer program which has earned the following accolades:
2018 Festival of Barrel Aged Beers:
Cognac/Whiskey-Aged Grow Old with You - Gold Medal - Barleywine/Wheatwine
2016 Great American Beer Festival:
Little Noise - Bronze Medal - Wood / Barrel-Aged Strong Stout
2014 World Beer Cup
Bourbon Barrel-Aged Mountain Man - Bronze Medal - Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer
Pure Imagination - Silver Medal - Oatmeal Stout
Not a Speck of Light will be released on draft as well as in 12oz can two-packs on Friday, October 23 in the Verboten Brewing Taproom alongside two special release variant versions of
the beer. Those variants include Not a Speck of Light Vanilla, which draws on the use of real Tahitian and Ugandan vanilla beans, as well as an extremely limited Brewers Select variant
which employs toasted coconut flakes, Ghana cocoa husks, and pecan, inspired by German Chocolate Cake Flavors.
