New CA Brewery (Prison Break) Giving a Future to Those with Criminal Past

From Prison Break:

Prison Break Brewery, a OBN Foundation program, is a company owned and operated by three former inmates with 35 plus total years of prison experience. Crafting quality beer and starting a company after you leave prison is not a normal path to follow. Now they are building a company, giving back to their communities, coming back the right way…and brewing some damn fine beer.

OBN Foundation has initiated several programs to provide individuals with a criminal past with an education, worthwhile employment and even business ownership opportunities—including television and motion picture production ideas, a craft-beer line, a prison-themed restaurant & cocktail bar, music production and a book publishing brand, Unit 2 Creations, which offers creative writing opportunities.

Other programs that OBN Foundation CEO Jim Monahan and his team, including CA-based Doug Thompson - Prison Break Brewery’s Founder, helped create also include an Apprenticeship Program with Prison Break Brewery. The Apprenticeship Program will take 100 individuals who are released and will be released from prison over a 2-year period and have them attend an online certified craft beer courses with San Diego State University. These apprentices will also receive on-the-job training with Prison Break Brewery and their partners. Upon completion, they will be offered full-time jobs.
