From St Arnold:
Commitment, Our Imperial Stout, Debuts Monday
Commitment. The state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. For us, that's beer. Specifically, our new Imperial Stout. It's rich, it's alluring, and it's ready to be all yours.
Originally brewed as Divine Reserve No. 18, Commitment is an Imperial Stout that pushes our limits - it's a beer with massive amounts of flavor and aromatic qualities. We use a grain bill that requires four times the amount of grain as Lawnmower, dose in two additions of Belgian candi syrup during fermentation to provide an adrenaline shot to the yeast, and let the beer rest for three months before adding a small amount of Madagascar vanilla beans as an added layer of complexity.
The result is a beer that pours a rich darkness - no light passes through - topped with a mocha colored head. The aroma is filled with molasses, vanilla, baker's chocolate, and rich dark fruit from our house yeast. The flavor profile starts with rich chocolate and raspberries that are dipped in honey, then builds on dried dark cherry notes, and finishes with wine like silkiness.
Commitment is big. This beer comes in at 13.4% ABV. It will be available starting Monday, February 10 on draft around town and in four packs of 12 oz bottles. It is around for a limited time only.
Chocolate Milk Stout is Our Newest Limited Release Beer
Since we opened our Beer Garden & Restaurant in July 2018, we've enjoyed the freedom to brew smaller batches for limited releases. It's allowed us to experiment with new styles and revisit a few of our favorite recipes.
One such favorite - Chocolate Milk Stout - was previously released three years ago as part of our Icon series. We rebrewed it for our Beer Garden, and it is the first beer packaged in six packs specifically for to go purchase (our to go beer cooler is inside the restaurant, in the merch area). Rebrewing this beer also gave us a chance to reunite with our friend, one of Houston's great chefs (and James Beard Award winner!), Chef Hugo Ortega.
Chocolate Milk Stout uses Hugo's Mexican chocolate. Chocolate dominates, with notes of toffee, stone fruit, and cinnamon. Sweetness is balanced by the hop and roast bitterness. A medium body and creamy mouthfeel leads to a surprisingly crisp finish. This beer comes in at 5.6% ABV.
Chocolate Milk Stout is available on draft and in six packs of 12 oz bottles (for to go purchase) at our Beer Garden & Restaurant. Very limited quantities are available on draft around town.
