New Braunfels Announces Latest Releases

Artisan beers from contrarian brewers

From New Braunfels:

Beer already makes an excellent holiday gift. When it's hyper-limited releases of truly unique and fantastic sour beer from New Braunfels that's even better. When it's a gift you can give yourself, it's transcendent.

I have eight open allocations for the December Sour Junkie Society and I'd love to share them with you.

You may purchase as many allocations as you wish but individual bottles won't be sold at this time.

I also released 4-packs of spicy PKL FKR this weekend and if you want some, you need to act quickly.

Can't make it the brewery? I'm happy to personally deliver if you're patient and in an area I visit and will absolutely ship if you're not.

Cheers to Sour Beer,

The 2019 release of my black sour wheat beer is my hands-down favorite of the series. It took 11 releases to get here, but doesn't it always?

For 2019 I selected three barrels. I selected barrel 59 because it was thin in body with a balanced tart and oaky flavor. I selected barrel 9 because it had a pronounced roast on the palate with bold aromas and a great acidity. Barrel 66 made the cut because it brought a big body with chocolate and oak.

All three barrels were racked over Tanat pomace from Lost Draw Cellars. The fruit was grown at Andy Timmons' estate and I'm proud to be able to source fruit from such an inspiring personality of the TX wine culture.

The beer and pomace were allowed to snuggle together for 2 weeks before racking into a steel tank on Monday, October 14.

Packaging took place in early November and the beer has been conditioning ever since.

Sangre de Shiva pours black with a hint of purple around the edges of your glass. Aromas of red wine with dark chocolate pull you in close and bear-hug the wind out of you. Right now the mouthfeel will drink bold and bright but will mellow and balance with time in your cellar. This is a beer that wants to see itself mature in 5-6 years but is happy to share itself with you now.

Only 36 750ml bottles produced.

Première de Figue de Barbarie 500ml

SJS Price - 12.74

October's allocation included the first fruit version of our prickly pear sour beer, Saison de Figure de Barbarie. November's allocation included the spent fruit version, Blondine de Figue de Barbarie.

For this special allocation I've pulled part of the first press of the first fruit Saison to create the Pemière. Weighing in around 4 pounds of fruit per gallon of barrel-aged beer, this is the prickly pear-est release of the series.

Look for exceedingly deep color, purple head and a rich, mineral-forward flavor.

Only 36 500ml bottles bottles produced.
