Austin, TX and Ridgefield, CT (December 18, 2019) – Artisanal Imports and Swinkels Family Brewers Imports (SFB Imports) have announced today that they have entered into a nationwide sales agreement for an acclaimed portfolio of Belgian beers including La Trappe, Palm and Rodenbach.
Beginning January 1, 2020 Artisanal Imports is releasing import rights for La Trappe to SFB Imports and will remain as the exclusive sales representatives for the award-winning Trappist ales. In addition, Artisanal Imports will begin representing the iconic Rodenbach brewery of West Flanders Belgium as well as Palm Amber Ale of Steenhuffel, Belgium. With the addition of these beers, Artisanal Imports now represents an even more robust portfolio of craft imports.
“Artisanal Imports has worked with De Koningshoeven Brewery, producers of La Trappe Trappist beers for over 17 years,” says Bob Leggett Founder and CEO of Artisanal Imports. “The hand-off to SFB Imports has been a year in the making and during negotiations we found a silver lining, a mutually beneficial opportunity for our established sales team to greatly increase SFB Imports’ sales capacity for its brands nationwide.”
“We found the perfect partner in Artisanal Imports to represent our brands and are excited to work with them,” said David van Wees, President of SFB Imports. “Artisanal Imports has an incredible depth of knowledge about specialty imports and strong relationships, which offers natural synergies between our organizations and will yield tremendous opportunities across our respective portfolios. We are stronger together and this relationship will undoubtedly yield greater opportunities for our beers nationwide.”
In effect, most of Artisanal’s existing retailer and distributor relationships for La Trappe will remain unchanged in 2020. However, it recommends buyers to contact their sales representative for confirmation as well as to learn more about opportunities to work with Palm and Rodenbach.

ABOUT ARTISANAL IMPORTS
Artisanal Imports is an importer of specialty beers from England, Germany, Belgium and beyond. Our portfolio of fine ales and lagers is broad and represents a wide range of beer styles, but it is not our mission to collect every small brewery across Europe. We believe in working in full partnership with our breweries and are careful to select beers that are high quality and interesting but that do not overlap one to the next.
The company also represents a growing portfolio of U.S. based breweries and cideries to assist with national sales growth.
