In late 2012, in my spare time, I launched the UK’s first beer subscription service.
We’ve slowly but surely turned BeerBods into an amazing little business that I know many people love. From our headquarters on a converted pig farm in Worcestershire, Gemma, Moz, Tom, Joe, Lily, Gordon and I have introduced a whole range of other products and services over the years to get more people drinking better beer, including with our most recent innovation, #BuildACase.
Together we’ve built an amazing community of beer drinkers that enjoy, discover and learn about beer together, most notably at 9pm every Thursday night using #BeerBods. I’m incredibly proud of everything we have achieved to date.
Having said that, we want to do more. Much more. It has become increasingly clear that in order for BeerBods to reach its full potential, we need a partner that can help take us to the next level. We’ve therefore taken the decision to join forces with Beer Hawk who have acquired our business in full. We’ll be working with them to help build the UK’s leading retailer of craft beer.
Beer Hawk was founded by Mark and Chris, also in 2012. With headquarters in Wetherby, they themselves were acquired by ZX Ventures, the innovation arm of AB InBev, in 2016. Their mission is to inspire everyone to discover their next favourite beer. Mark, Chris and the Beer Hawk team share our passion for craft beer. They also share our vision for the kind of business we want to build. We reckon it’s the perfect fit.
“I’m delighted to welcome Matt and his team into the Beer Hawk family. They are simply the best beer subscription service out there, and have exactly the same passion for beer and ethos as we do – the BeerBods mission of getting more people drinking better beer is such a great fit with our own”.
Mark Roberts, Beer Hawk Co-founder
I’ll be sticking around and I’m delighted to say that the rest of the team will be too. We’ll still be the ones picking the beers. We’ll still be the ones telling the stories behind them. We’ll still be making BeerBods (we’ll be keeping the brand) and our community, with the help of the Beer Hawk team, as good as it can possibly be.
Cheers,
Matt
