Indeed Brewing's B-Side Pils wins Bronze medal at European Beer Star AwardsFrom Indeed:

MINNEAPOLIS, MN , NOVEMBER 14, 2018: Indeed Brewing is excited to announce that its B-Side Pils has won a bronze medal in the German-Style Kellerpils category in the 2018 European Beer Star Awards. The European Beer Star competition was held in Gräfelfing, Germany, just outside Munich last month.

Indeed Brewing isn’t new to this competition, though, winning bronze in 2017 for their Mexican Honey Imperial Lager in the Specialty Honey Beer category. “Winning a European Beer Star award for the second year in a row is an incredible honor especially considering that we won in a very traditional German category while up against the best breweries in the world,” explains Co-Owner Tom Whisenand. “At Indeed we try to balance tradition with innovation and I think this achievement speaks to our commitment to delivering our customers the best beer possible.”

This 15th annual European Beer Star competition highlights breweries around the globe who have created authentic brews in categories originated in Europe. It has become an important, prestigious beer competition organized by the association Private Brauereien. Judging is held at the Doemens Academy in Gräfelfing, Germany, and involves a two-day blind tasting with 144 judges reviewing and deciding the gold, silver, and bronze medal winners in 65 different categories. Each beer is carefully examined by an international jury scoring in several areas such as appearance, foam, smell, taste and varietal characteristics. Competition was tough with 2,344 entries (up 9% from 2017) from 51 countries with the United States contributing to just 11% of submissions. Last year’s notable American winners include national breweries like Deschutes, Founders Brewing, Firestone Walker, and Boston Beer Company.

B-Side Pils is crafted with a traditional German malt bill and a blend of Hallertauer, Mittelfruh, and Mandarina Bavaria hops to create a crisp and noble pilsner. Straw golden in appearance, B-Side Pils is crushable with a crackery malt base and floral hops finishing dry with light carbonation. It’s sister brew and unfiltered version, Zwickelbier, will be widely available in 2019 throughout all of Indeed’s distribution markets including all of Minnesota, and parts of North Dakota and Wisconsin.

Co-owners Tom Whisenand and Nathan Berndt are in Germany today to attend the award ceremony and accept the bronze medal for B-Side Pils at the Nuremberg Convention Center in Nuremberg, Germany.
