Indeed Brewing Company announces plans to build satellite brewery and taproom in Milwaukee, WI
MINNEAPOLIS, MN, November 12, 2018: Indeed Brewing Company is thrilled to announce plans to build a brewery and taproom in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Slated to open in mid-2019 at 530 South Second Street in the Walker’s Point neighborhood, Indeed Milwaukee will consist of a 10-Barrel brewhouse and a taproom that seats 100+ people.
Why Milwaukee? The company sees the expansion to this new location as the keystone of its strategy in the most populous and personally-connected bordering state. After a year of self-distribution focused in Madison and Milwaukee, the groundwork was built for expansion. “Milwaukee feels like the perfect fit,” says Tom Whisenand, Indeed co-founder and leader on the expansion project. “We share a love of drinking beer, and many of the folks who work at Indeed have strong personal connections to the state. We’re excited to be a part of the Walker’s Point neighborhood, and connect directly with new Indeed customers in the state’s largest city.” The 10-Barrel system will accurately produce Indeed’s existing line-up of beers with the added freedom to pilot and develop new brands for this new and enthusiastic customer base.
When considering this massive undertaking, Indeed co-founder Nathan Berndt posed the questions, “What will it take to be truly successful in Wisconsin? What can we do to stand out in this market? How can Indeed become a relevant brand and create lasting community partnerships?” The answers to these questions have led to this exciting next step for the company, and the decision to create a unique location, working in tandem with the Minneapolis brewery to expand the Indeed brand to Wisconsin in a tangible, drinkable way. Indeed plans to extend its Indeed We Cancharitable giving program to its new Milwaukee taproom, with 100% of taproom net profits donated to local employee-chosen non-profits every Wednesday night of the year.
“This is no Panera Bread-like expansion,” explains Whisenand. “Milwaukee is a beer town and we are beer people that work every day to make great beer, meaningful commitments to the communities we are a part of, and get a real kick out of big ideas and innovation.” Indeed believes innovation isn’t just one thing—one beer or one technology or one person—it’s created from a collection of experiences. Inspired by the pulse of a new city, new water, new beer, and new people, Indeed looks forward to experiencing Milwaukee, and the state of Wisconsin, to the fullest.
