We’ve been asking now for over four weeks and we’ve had our fair share of rumor and questioning e-mail coming in as well, and I still don’t have an official answer. But if you look at the evidence, it would seem that Traveler Beer has gone silent. Given the competitive nature of the beer industry today, it would seem very strange for a brewery/brand to drop off the social media map for so long.
Traveler beer has not posted on FaceBook since July 26th, On Twitter since July 26th and on Instagram since July 26th (all on the exact same day). Clothing and other swag on their website has all been marked down to 50%-Off, and all requests for comment have been ignored. Their last label approval was for Fuzzy Traveler on March 29th 2018.
In this currently crowded segment, and with lots of breweries putting out their own shandy products that compete directly with Traveler, it would seem that summer would be prime sales season for Traveler Beer. This timing would seem to make the silence even more telling.
So this begs the question…why has Traveler Beer gone silent? Has Boston Beer pulled the plug and decided to move in another direction? Will the brand be closed or sold? OR did they just decide to drop off social media for over a month during their busiest season?
I have reached out again to Traveler for comment and I will update this post with any replies or comments they provide?
As an update, I have heard indirectly from a distributor that they were told the Traveler Beer brand is being ended.
What would you recommend as an alternative? Very disappointed that I won't be able to enjoy the Aloha variant anymore.
ReplyDeleteI've been wondering the same for a while now. Last summer, I found what I consider to be the perfect beach beer. This spring I couldn't find it anymore and there is no word about it other than their website says that they are moving on.
ReplyDeleteVery sad to see this.
I am saddened by their closing still a year later, I loved the winter shandy
ReplyDeleteHi, did you by any chance find out why Traveler ever disbanded? I loved (and still love) Jack-O and Jolly Winter Traveler
