Ninkasi Brewing Company Named 2018 Good Food Awards Winner

From Ninkasi:

EUGENE, OR .—Jan. 23, 2018—This past Friday, Ninkasi Brewing Company joined the nation’s leading food producers, grocers, chefs, journalists, and activists at the San Francisco War Memorial as 199 of the nation’s most sustainable food and beverage producers were recognized by the Good Food Awards. Honored for its Pacific Rain Northwest Pale, Ninkasi was among 19 Oregon-based companies awarded for creating tasty, authentic and responsible products.

Organized by Seedling Projects, Bi-Rite founder, Sam Mogannam, joined culinary luminaries Alice Waters, Nell Newman and Madhur Jaffrey to celebrate this year’s winners. In a blind tasting held in September, 2,057 entries were scored by 277 judges. The highest scoring entries where then submitted to a rigorous vetting process, demonstrating social and sustainable practices. Honoring crafters in 15 categories (beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, cider, coffee, confections, elixirs, fish, honey, oils, pantry, pickles, preserves, and spirits) this year’s winners showcase the highest social and environmental standards.

“It is inspiring to be surrounded by producers who are committed to pushing our food system forward,” says Cheryl Collins, Ninkasi CEO. “We are honored to be among food and beverage crafters who continuously demonstrate what it means be a responsible business.”

Initially released in February, 2017, Ninkasi brewed Pacific Rain Northwest Pale as an ode to the Pacific Northwest. Crafted with water from Oregon’s McKenzie River and regionally-sourced ingredients, Pacific Rain is hoppy and crisp, the perfect beer to accompany any outdoor activity. Paired with a commitment to social sustainability through its Beer is Love donations program and sustainable business practices, Ninkasi is honored to receive its third Good Food Awards recognition since 2015.
