Minneapolis, MN Better Beer Society University is coming back to Republic in 2018, and we’re excited to share the new BBSU Showcase. The mission of BBSU Showcase is to use education to make craft beer culture accessible to everybody who enjoys a good beer. For more than four years, the original BBSU explored more than 60 different beer related topics with local, national, and international beer experts and was a formative experience for many in Minnesota’s beer community.
Matty O’Reilly who helped bring Republic to life over six years ago is excited to partner with the Better Beer Society and bring back BBSU. “I’m so excited to have BBSU back at Republic. Not only does it attract our target market and future regulars, but it emphasizes that the education side of the beer industry is so critical right now—now more than ever. As we continue to get inundated with options of where to go, what to drink and why; this program strengthens my belief that the more you know the better decisions you’ll make. If the consumer has a foundation of logic and knowledge, it’ll help them sort through the options and understand why 'quality over new' and 'integrity over popularity’ matters. BBSU clarifies the path.”
The goal with the new BBSU Showcase is to capture the spirit that guided our earliest semesters. Each week we’ll sit down to an intimate conversation with the breweries that are continuing to push beer to new heights. Students will have the opportunity to try rare and exclusive beers from all across the region and, of course, we’ll tackle valuable educational topics accessible to both aficionados and those just starting their beer journey, including:
- Tasting, palate exploration and development
- Glassware
- Beer styles and history
- Beer and food pairings
- Cooking with beer
- Homebrewing
- Beer culture
- Trends and business
The cost will be $95 per semester or $10 per individual session. Included in the price will be one pint of beer per session and any samples the featured brewer chooses to bring that evening. BBSU Showcase will take place every Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:00 pm beginning February 21, 2018 through May 9, 2018. Tickets can be purchased on the Eventbrite page located here.
