Mila Sketch wins CANvas CANpaign to have art on one million cans

of clean drinking water

Austin, TX - November 2, 2017 - The CAN'd Aid Foundation and The Ball Foundation are proud to announce Mila Sketch, an Austin-based artist, as the official winner of the first-ever CANvas CANpaign. Sketch's work will be featured on one million cans of clean drinking water for disaster relief.

In addition to winning $2,500 cash, her art will be featured at the CANvas CANpaign launch party on 11/16.

The celebration will be held at Hotel Eleven in Austin, at 1123 E 11th St from 5-8 p.m. The general public is invited to attend by RSVPing here.

"The CANvas CANpaign aims to highlight, promote and support visual artists with a public platform for their work. It's a unique collaboration between the CAN'd Aid Foundation, Ball Foundation and Oskar Blues Brewery - and it's been great to see the impact we're able to have locally," says Diana Ralston, Executive Director of the CAN'd Aid Foundation. "We're excited to incorporate Mila's winning artwork and are grateful to Ball Corporation for donating the cans, which will be filled with clean drinking water and shipped out in the wake of disasters."

A total of 125 label designs were submitted for consideration. From those pieces, a jury selected five finalists for inclusion in a social media voting contest. Drew Button won 2nd place, Abbi Arneson 3rd place and Brian Begley and Eric Rivers were runners up.

Sketch was born in Russia and has been drawing since a very early age. She has experimented with different media projects and art techniques and now dedicates all her professional and creative time to graphic paintings. Her work has been exhibited worldwide since 2002.

To date, CAN'd Aid has worked with Oskar Blues Brewery and the Ball Corporation to can, ship and donate 986,241 cans of drinking water to communities in need. This includes 498,240 cans sent to Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico following massive devastation and flooding from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
