From Coronado Brewing:
OSLO, Norway Thin Film Electronics ASA (“Thinfilm”) (OSE: THIN; OTCQX: TFECY), a global leader in NFC (near field communication) mobile marketing and smart packaging solutions, today announced its ‘Smart Coaster’ campaign with the Coronado Brewing Company (“Coronado”) received a 2017 North America Smarties™ Award from the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA). Thinfilm and Coronado were honored for technology innovations in the ‘Internet of Things – Products in the Market’ category. The independent Smarties jury consisted of 27 senior brand and agency professionals active in markets including consumer packaged goods, apparel, healthcare, financial services, electronics, and automotive.
A case study highlighting the Thinfilm/Coronado smart coaster campaign can be downloaded here: “Innovative Coasters Help Brewery Boost Website Conversions”.
The smart coaster campaign was part of a product launch for a new beer, CoastWise Session IPA, and resulted in a significant increase in consumer engagement compared to Coronado’s other advertising channels. The initiative generated a 13–17.5X increase in web conversions, as measured by website visits resulting from consumers who tapped the coaster with their smartphone.
In addition to Thinfilm’s Smarties Award recognizing the smart coaster campaign, Matthew Bright, Thinfilm senior director of product and technical marketing, received an ‘MMA Impact Award’ recognizing his leadership in the MMA’s Internet of Things initiatives. Launched last year, the MMA Impact Awards recognize a select group of industry executives who have devoted their time, energy and expertise to furthering the mission of the MMA and the industry.
“The Coronado ‘Earth Day’ smart coaster campaign, using Thinfilm’s CNECT™ platform, clearly demonstrated how NFC mobile marketing can bridge the physical and digital domains to create compelling consumer experiences, double website traffic, and generate real-time data for brands – results that all align strongly with the MMA’s agenda,” said Davor Sutija, CEO of Thinfilm. “We are excited about the role our NFC SpeedTap™ solution had in the success of the Coronado smart coaster initiative, and we are honored to be recognized by the Smarties jury for our role in creating an innovative and effective mobile marketing experience.”
