Deschutes Roanoke, VA Tasting Room Grand Opening 8/28 & More

imageFrom Deschutes:

In April 2017, we announced that we’ll be opening a tasting room in our second home of Roanoke, VA, right downtown at 315 Market Street SE. Our grand opening is scheduled for August 28 and, with 24 taps, fans will be able to enjoy a selection of Deschutes beers that is unmatched! Patrons can share a pint at the indoor and outdoor seating areas or fill growlers to go, as well as purchase branded merchandise and locally and regionally sourced ready-to-eat snacks. The brewhouse at the tasting room will have a 20-gallon capacity and our team will be creating some special experimental beers just for Roanokers!

And these beer updates from Deschutes:

Hopzeit Autumn IPA
When:            August-October
What:  Seasonal (12-ounce bottles and draft)
Move over pumpkin beers, here’s a fall seasonal that is inspired by the classic flavors of a Märzenbier. This modern ale’s only adherence to tradition is to our brewers’ own passion for experimentation. We’ve combined the latest hop varietals from Germany with classic malts to create an herbal and balanced Autumn IPA unlike anything before it, perfect for sharing with friends as you celebrate Oktoberfest here in the new country. Hopzeit is only here for a few festive weeks, so get a taste before the party’s over.

The Dissident
When:            September
What:  Reserve Series (22-ounce wax dipped bottles and draft)
This gem is now an annual endeavor by the Deschutes Brewery brewers. This Oud Bruin, a Flanders-style sour brown ale, brings us its heavenly aroma and flavor a little earlier than usual this year (meaning you may crack it open for Labor Day rather than Thanksgiving).  First introduced back in 2008, The Dissident is brewed using Brettanomyces and local cherries to give it its characteristic sour taste. Fermented in isolation (partly in pinot and cabernet barrels), it is best enjoyed in company – if you feel like sharing that is.

Sagefight Imperial IPA
When:            September
What:  Bond Street Series (12-ounce bottles and draft)
Seven years in the making, Sagefight Imperial IPA began as a part of our pub rotation series before finally earning its shot at the title. Inspired by the high desert landscape we call home, this heavyweight IPA brewed with sage and juniper berries hits the sweet spot, pitting hops against botanicals in a true battle royale. It’s a great way for us to share a taste of our home with you, and for you to share a couple rounds with those in your corner.

Chasin’ Freshies: A Fresh Hop IPA
When:            October
What:  Bond Street Series (12-ounce bottles and draft)
This fall, get ready to chase some freshies before ski season even starts. Not sure what “freshies” are? We’ll tell you! In our hometown of Bend, Oregon, winter means that we start seeking fresh, untouched powder (freshies!) on the slopes of our local ski hill, Mt. Bachelor. This pursuit of perfection is reflected as Deschutes Brewery chases down experimental hop HBC 431 for this year’s vintage of Chasin’ Freshies: A Fresh Hop IPA. Each year, the beer features a different fresh hop from our rich, Pacific Northwest hop-growing country and is a nod to the snow and hop enthusiasts we’ve entertained for the last 29 years at our original public house in downtown Bend.

Hop Trip: A Fresh Hop Pale Ale
When:            October
What:  Bond Street Series (12-ounce bottles and draft)
For more than a decade now, our brewers have been making the “trip” to hand select hops from the farm in order to pick, bag, load and dump the fresh harvest into the kettle to create Hop Trip. The quick jaunt across the mountains in Oregon means that Crystal hops from Goschie Farms go from harvest to brew in just a few short hours. The result? Fans get to start their own journey with each bottle of this pale ale and its bright citrus punch to the nose. Bon Voyage! Want to see how it’s done up close? Check out our
Virtual Reality experience of last year’s journey.
