Mybeerbuzz.com Highlights Harpoon Hibiscus Cider

I’m lucky enough to get to sample a fair amount of new and unique ciders, and while I’ve tried quite a few combinations of flavors, I think this one has a lot of potential to change your mind about cider  (unless of course you already LOVE cider).
Winking smile

This is Harpoon Hibiscus Cider and it is the newest summer seasonal cider release coming from Harpoon.  This cider was first brewed at Harpoon’s annual employee brewing competition (created by J

ulia Falk, Cait Kelliher, Jordan McMillan, Carolyn Orth,

and

Harpoon brewer Rich Eyring) and it was decided at the competition to make this cider the Harpoon summer seasonal.

If you guessed that Hibuscus Cider is brewed with hibiscus flowers (

8 lbs. for every 320 gallons)

, you’d be correct, and you can’t miss that ingredient’s contribution to the gorgeous pink color.  The aromas speak of fresh apples with some floral and tropical fruit notes following along at the end.  The flavors have a nice balance of tart and slightly sweet apples with a really refreshing mouthfeel and finish.  The floral contribution of hibiscus is subtle, but it’s definitely there  and I think this easy drinking semi-tart cider will be a summer favorite.

Harpoon Hibiscus Cider is available now in 12oz bottles and on draft so be sure to try this one for yourself….and when you do, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
