Anchor Brewing Announces Two Pacific Siren Series Beers

imageFrom Anchor:

Two new beers are landing at a store near you as you read this BrewsLetter. The Pacific Siren Series is our introduction of fruit-forward beers. The key here is the beer style, either a Lager or a Wheat Ale, with a twist of fruit. Introducing two brews, each complimented by fruit flavors that result in a low alcohol, thirst quenching, reach for another experience.

Our aim with Anchor’s Meyer Lemon Lager™ (4.5%ABV) was to create a brew that would highlight the delectable character of this singular fruit: brightness without sharpness, fullness of flavor without heaviness, floral aroma without floweriness, complexity without harshness.

Once poured, the appearance is a bright, clear, golden color with tight white bubbles. The aroma of fresh lemon zest hits you, followed by hints of lager yeast, citrus hops and lemon verbena. The taste is tartness of citrus balanced by malty sweetness. It finishes with a clean, pithy bitterness, like a Meyer Lemon peel.

Anchor’s Mango Wheat™ (4.5%ABV) is a crisply refreshing, effervescent, golden ale that again highlights the character of this singular fruit. This brew pours marigold yellow, slightly hazy with white wheaty head. The aromas are fruity, ripe mangoes with hints of apricot and peach and a taste slightly sweet from mangoes with a hint of citrus tartness. It has a light and easy drinking mouthfeel and finishes crisp and clean with no lingering sweetness.
