Here’s your first look at a new bottle coming from Allagash Brewing. This is Monmouth Red and it is an ale aged in American apple Brandy barrels. This take on a traditional Flanders-style red is brewed with Pilsner, Caramel and Chocolate malts and fermented with house yeast (in stainless) as well as Lactobacillus and Pediococcus (aged for 18 months in an oak foudre) before hitting freshly emptied apple Brandy barrels for 12 months. Look for Monmouth Red to be package din 375 cork and caged bottles and the beer hits 9.5%-AbV. Stay tuned for release details.
